The European commission decided on 26-11-2019 to increase the budget of the Creative Europe programme with 17%. The different funding schemes encourage the audiovisual, cultural and creative sector to operate across Europe, to reach new audiences, to develop the skills needed in the digital age and to reach audiences in other countries for safeguarding cultural and linguistic diversity.
The last sentence made me think about the question "Are cultures disappearing because of globalization and does multiculturality evolve to one culture? Especially youngsters seem to embrace innovations coming from across the world rather than traditions. Personally, I believe that art and culture is not something that we have to learn from others but rather a kind of expression and that it is very relevant to understand the expression of others (who lived in the past or who live in another country). Of course we won't call every self-expression artistic. But when an expression is or was artistic, I think we shouldn't ban it to the art world but rather integrate it in our daily lives for instance by printing it on a cup, bag or t-shirt without losing respect for the artist.
